Inspired by a stone floor in a church where square tiles were repaired with half tiles cut on the diagonal. Maybe it was a mistake but It added a nice haphazardness to the pattern.

The pattern was first created with charcoal on paper, cut up and rearranged and rearranged again, layoured and coloured digitally.

This warm yellow and black version is rich and textured, moody and warm.
